My approach
I provide a warm, validating, and empowering environment for my clients. My therapeutic approach takes full account of the interplay between mental, emotional, and physical well-being. We will work together to examine the whole of your circumstances and how factors like genetics, biology, hormone changes, lifestyle, beliefs, and environment contribute to your well-being. My goal is to help you make lasting changes that are consistent with your personal value system. I use evidence-based practices, delivered with compassion and dignity for my clients, honoring their diversity.
Background
I have over a decade of experience in providing mental health assessment and treatment in a variety of settings. I lived in Dallas, Texas for the first 28 years of my life – completing my BA, MA, and PhD in my hometown. I moved to San Diego in 2015 to complete my residency with University of California, San Diego (UCSD) and the San Diego VA. I fell in love with California! I have been on faculty at UCSD since 2017, and I am currently an Associate Clinical Professor of Psychiatry. I also serve as the Director of the APA-Accredited Advanced Fellowship in Women’s Health through the San Diego VA and in a national role as a Women’s Mental Health Champion. I am passionate about serving women, helping them find validation, confidence, and dignity.
